Essential — Shopping & Account (WooCommerce / WordPress)
- woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart — remembers what’s in your cart.
- wp_woocommerce_session_* — keeps your cart/session linked across pages during checkout.
- wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_* — keeps you logged in to My Account, if you have one.
These are required for the cart and checkout to function and can’t be switched off without breaking the ability to buy from the site.
Analytics — Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager
- _ga, _ga_* — distinguishes unique visitors, used by Google Analytics.
- _gid — distinguishes visitors for a 24-hour window.
- _gat — used to throttle request rate to Google Analytics.
These help us understand which pages and products visitors find useful, so we can improve the site. They don’t identify you personally. See Google’s Cookie Policy for details on how Google handles this data.
3. Managing or Disabling Cookies
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings (usually under Privacy or Security). Blocking essential cookies will prevent the cart and checkout from working correctly. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on your ability to browse or buy — it only stops usage data from being collected.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics specifically via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
